Irpinia Aglianico DOC “1944”: why we like it
This Irpinia Aglianico DOC “1944” by Antonio Covuccia expresses the typicality of Aglianico grapes, carefully cultivated in the vineyards of Contrada Carazita, a historic area of Taurasi. The grapes, harvested manually in small crates in the third decade of October, are vinified according to traditional methods. Skin maceration for about 15-20 days helps to enhance the intense aromas of fruit and flowers, giving the wine a balanced structure and well-smoothed tannins.
After fermentation, the wine matures in steel for 7 months, keeping intact the freshness of the fruit and the pure character of Aglianico. The result is a harmonious wine that retains the liveliness and elegance typical of the grape variety, perfect to accompany a variety of dishes.
Its special characteristics make it ideal for pairing with grilled meats, roasts, game, cured meats and aged cheeses. It is recommended to be enjoyed at a serving temperature of 18-20 °C.
