Taurasi Riserva DOCG “La Loggia del Cavaliere”: why we like it
Taurasi DOCG red wine “La Loggia del Cavaliere” is an expression of a product faithful to the ancient traditions of Irpinia viticulture. In fact, this red wine is made from 100% Aglianico grapes from the vineyard located on the hills of the famous Taurasi DOCG localities: Carazita, Pesano and Brussineta sites in the municipalities of Luogosano and Sant’Angelo all’Esca, at 450 meters above sea level.
The grapes are harvested by hand in the first days of November and carefully selected before being divided. The fermentation process takes place at a controlled temperature in small steel tanks while the maceration process takes place “on the skins” for about a month with manual pumping over and punching down. The aging phase occurs in large French oak barrels for 24 months, then in concrete vats for another 24 months and finally in the bottle for at least 18 months.
This complex and enchanting red wine matches particularly well with well-structured cuisine of all kinds, regional meat dishes and succulent sauces, lamb and aged cheeses.
