Cantine Mustilli: Wines, History, and Philosophy

Cantine Mustilli was founded in the heart of Sant’Agata de’ Goti, one of Campania’s most charming villages. The winery’s history dates back to the 1700s, even though the wineryy has been officially active since the late Seventies. The passion for wine has been passed down through generations, reaching today with Leonardo and Paola Mustilli, who continue the family legacy with dedication and innovation.

Cantine Mustilli’s primary aim is to maintain an authentic and sustainable connection with the land, enhancing local biodiversity and traditions. Leonardo and Paola practise “sustainable viticulture,” which involves using environmentally friendly techniques and paying particular attention to product quality. The winery’s philosophy is based on the belief that wine should be the purest expression of the terroir, with minimal chemical intervention.

The wines of Cantine Mustilli

Cantine Mustilli produces a wide range of wines that tell the story and tradition of the Campanian region. Each bottle results from a careful selection of grapes and a winemaking process that blends traditional and modern techniques. The winery spans about 20 hectares of vineyards situated at an altitude of approximately 300-400 metres, in an area characterised by volcanic soils and a climate ideal for vine cultivation.

Among Cantine Mustilli’s flagship wines we find two versions of whites produced with Falanghina grapes: “Falanghina del Sannio DOC”, a fresh and aromatic wine, perfect for accompanying fish dishes and fresh cheeses, and its namesake “Secret Vineyard”, enriched by the grapes from the “Sant’Agata dei Goti” sub-area, falling within the renowned Sannio DOC designation. There is no shortage of red wines, such as Piedirosso Sant’Agata dei Goti DOC “Artus”, a structured, robust and complex wine; the Piedirosso Sannio DOC and the Aglianico Sannio DOC, made from pure Aglianco grapes, as in the case of the Aglianico Sant’Agata dei Goti DOC “Cesco di Nece”, aged in oak barrels. Last but not least, the experiments of Cantine Mustilli Cellars: from the processing of Aglianico grapes into rosé, the Beneventano IGP “Regina Sofia sui lieviti” is born, a sparkling version of rosé; the Beneventano IGP “Regina Isabella sui lieviti” also comes from Falanghina grapes, a sparkling experiment on these historic Campania grapes; finally “Phileno”, a passito wine composed of a skilful blend of Falanghina (50%), Malvasia (25%) and Fiano (25%) grapes. An unparalleled selection of wines, where each bottle contains the riches of the Campania region like a treasure chest.
