Irpinia Rosato DOC “Gioia”: why we like it
“Gioia” is obtained from carefully selected 100% Aglianico grapes, coming from vineyards located in the municipality of Castelvetere Sul Calore in the locality of Valiano, at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, and characterized by a clayey-limestone soil typology. It is a vineyard with an extension of 8000 meters and 8 years of age, which is cultivated with a density of 2500/3000 vines per hectare and a production of 80 quintals per hectare.
The grapes, harvested by hand in boxes at the end of October, are transported to the cellar. After a dedicated crushing phase, a light maceration and a soft pressing process, the must is fermented at a low temperature to preserve the aromatic substances of the grapes, in 20 hectoliter steel tanks. Finally it spends a period of refinement in the bottle for 3 months.
The characteristics of this wine match elegantly with different varieties of food, from appetizers to pasta, through rice to meat and fish, without forgetting cheeses. A serving temperature of 10°/12° C is recommended.
