Cantina Bosco Sant’Agnese: Wines, History, and Philosophy
Cantina Bosco Sant’Agnese is a winery located in Calvi, Benevento province, led by Antonio and Angela Molinaro. Established officially ten years ago, the winery is the result of their passion and dedication to the land and wine, transforming their family’s agricultural heritage into a modern yet tradition-respecting winery.
The Wines of Cantina Bosco Sant’Agnese
Antonio and Angela Molinaro began producing wine with a natural approach to cultivation and processing, striving to minimise chemical intervention and respecting the natural cycles of the vineyard. Their roots are deep in the agricultural history of the Sannio region, historically associated with tobacco cultivation and viticulture. Their philosophy is rooted in respect for nature and sustainability. Antonio and Angela have chosen to follow biodynamic principles, a method that views the farm as a living organism in harmony with its environment. Although they initially sought biodynamic certification, they decided to part ways with certification bodies due to differing views. Currently, their wines are organically certified, reflecting their commitment to natural and sustainable viticulture.
Cantina Bosco Sant’Agnese produces wines from prestigious native grape varieties such as Aglianico, Piedirosso, Coda di Volpe, and Barbera. Each bottle tells a story of tradition, passion, and dedication. The Piedirosso, with its delicate characteristics, is one of Antonio’s favourites, while the robust and complex Aglianico requires years of ageing to reach its full potential.
