Antonio Covuccia: wines, history, and philosophy

Antonio Covuccia’s story is deeply rooted in a family tradition tied to the land and agriculture. Born to a family of farmers, Antonio grew up surrounded by the dedication and sacrifices needed to work the land. His father managed a small farm that produced grapes, olives, and hazelnuts, instilling in his children a strong connection to their homeland and core family values. After exploring different paths, Antonio returned to his agricultural passion in 2014, following his father’s passing, and decided to continue the project his father had started, together with his brother.

In 2021, Antonio’s passion for winemaking led him to fulfil his dream of vinifying the quality grapes grown in his vineyard, located on the hillside of Contrada Carazita, one of the most favourable areas in Taurasi for soil quality and sunlight exposure. In honour of his parents, he named his wines after their birth years: Irpinia Aglianico 1944, a tribute to his mother, and Irpinia Campi Taurasini 1931, in memory of his father. Antonio Covuccia carries on his work with pride and passion, applying traditional vineyard management and producing wines that reflect the authenticity of the region and the values passed down through his family.
