Taurasi DOCG “Vigna Cinque Querce”: why we like it
“Vigna Cinque Querce”by Salvatore Molettieri is the expression of a product faithful to the ancient traditions of the specific viticulture of the Irpinia region. Produced with 100% Aglianico grapes from vines located in the municipality of Montemarano (AV) at an altitude of 500/550 meters above sea level, and characterized by a clayey-limestone soil type. This is a vineyard with 18/22 years of age, cultivated at a density of 2500/3000 vines per hectare and a production of 70 quintals per hectare.
Grapes are hand-picked in boxes in early/mid November and transported to the winery for processing. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel barrels. Maturation takes place for about 48 months in barriques and large oak barrels. Finally, it goes through the stage of bottle aging for at least 6 months.
A wine of great character to go with game and noble game and great aged cheeses. It is advisable to uncork the bottle at least one hour before tasting and to serve it at a temperature of 18°/20° C.
