Taurasi Riserva DOCG “Vigna Cinque Querce” 2014: why we like it
“Vigna Cinque Querce”by Salvatore Molettieri is the expression of a product faithful to the ancient traditions of the specific viticulture of the Irpinia region. Produced with 100% Aglianico grapes from vines located in the municipality of Montemarano (AV) at an altitude of 500/550 meters above sea level, and characterized by a clayey-limestone soil type. It is a vineyard that is 18/22 years old, cultivated with a density of 2500/3000 vines per hectare and a production of 60 quintals per hectare.
The grapes are harvested by hand in boxes in early/mid November. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel barrels. The maturation process takes place for about 60 months in barriques and large oak barrels. Finally, it goes through the aging phase in bottle for at least 18 months.
A complex and enveloping wine that matches perfectly with rich and elaborate dishes such as stews, game, hard or aged cheeses. It is advisable to uncork the bottle at least one hour before tasting and to serve it at a temperature of 18°/20° C.
