La Cantina di Enza: natural viticulture without compromises

La Cantina di Enza was founded in 2011 in the municipality of Montemarano (AV), in the Irpinia region, from an idea by Enza Saldutti, with the aim of keeping alive a family tradition based on coexistence with the surrounding natural environment, in particular with the owned vineyards, thus ensuring the creation of unique and inimitable wines linked to local peasant knowledge.

The history of my winery begins in 2011, when I decided to dedicate myself to the family vineyards, motivated by the aim of obtaining products with their own character, the non-replicability of which is linked to an extremely natural way of thinking about viticulture. All the processes are carried out manually by my father and me, without the help of oenologists or wine experts, we do not involve processes of a mechanical or chemical nature and we do not use devices such as refrigerated barrels or similar, using only wood for the maturation processes of our wines. We rely on the fruits that the vineyard gives us, living in symbiosis with it and this is how we obtain wines with an identity and authenticity that retain their typical character even after years.

The vineyards extend in an area of ​​approximately 5 hectares, from which we obtain special grapes capable of giving us 5 different types of wine with one characteristic in common: the origin from historic native vines and in some cases almost in danger of extinction. One of the main objectives of La Cantina di Enza is in fact the recovery and maintenance of the historical grapes present in the area, also through daring experiments, but always based on tradition and on a genuine relationship between land and human being.

With profound passion and meticulousness, trying to enhance the natural elements of the grapes and vines we work with, we thus arrive at the production of four Campania red wines: Taurasi DOCG “Padre” Bio, Irpinia Aglianico DOC “Passione” Bio, Campania Rosato IGP “Nata Rosa” and the natural red wine “Dall’uva”, all sharing the Aglianico grapes; last but not least, an experiment involving a vine that has now almost disappeared, the Coda di Volpe Rosso, from the name “Volpe Rossa”.
