Campania red wines

Campania red wines are one of the national agricultural system’s pride and their succes is due to the mild climate and to the fact that the production areas are located near to the sea (indeed, the vineyards are cultivated between 250 and 800 metres above sea level, often on a volcanic terrain, taking the advantage of being exposed to the typical weather of the Mediterranean scrub). All these environmental conditions enable the production of truly unique red wines. As a matter of fact, the realisation of most of Campania red wines has been constantly regulated and protected by regional procedural guidelines which confer the various DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin), DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin), IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) and IGT (Typical Geographical Indication) designations. Aglianico is the undisputed ruler among the vineyards from the Campania region: an ancient vine which has its full expression in the Taurasi wine district, especially in the territory of the town of the same name.
