La Molara: wines, history and philosophy

The La Molara winery was founded in 2002 thanks to the passion and constant work of the founding members. It is located in the area called “Media Valle del Calore” and it is mainly active in the area of the municipality of Luogosano, in the heart of the famous Irpinia wine-growing area. Today the winery prospers thanks to the commitment of the lawyer Riccardo Morelli, the current reference partner, and his family, strengthened by the commitment of the professor Pasquale Di Stasio, manager of the winery, and of Giovanni Soriano, responsible for the product and operations in vineyard, assisted by Antonio Pesce, winemaker, and Maria Rosaria di Stasio. A team that works with the utmost attention to preserve the natural characteristics of the grapes and create authentic, high-quality wines that contain all the typical features of the Irpinia area.

La Molara: the wines

The La Molara winery works around seven hectares of vineyards distributed between the municipalities of Luogosano, Montefusco and Lapio; the vineyards, planted on calcareous-clayey soils, are recently created, with intensive planting layouts and specialized cultivation, with a planting density that varies from 3500 to 6000 plants per hectare. The training systems to which the vineyards are subjected are spurred cordon and Guyot. The harvest is carried out rigorously and exclusively by hand, with baskets of approximately 15 kilograms to guarantee maximum selection of the grapes and the best quality of the final product. Only thanks to the profound attention to the final result and the processing methods does La Morala ensure the production of authentic wines such as the “Santa Vara” reds in the Taurasi DOCG and Taurasi Riserva DOCG versions, the Irpinia Campi Taurasini DOC “Valeria”; or like the Greco di Tufo DOCG, the Fiano di Avellino DOCG and the Irpinia DOC Bianco as regards white wines. To complete the La Molara line, two “bubbles”: the Spumante Irpinia Fiano DOC Brut and the Aglianico Rosato Brut. An Irpinia Aglianico Passito DOC fresh from production.
