Cantina Bosco Sant’Agnese: Antonio, Angela, and Rock Music in the Vineyard
Nestled in Calvi, in the province of Benevento, Cantina Bosco Sant’Agnese is run by Antonio and Angela Molinaro, a couple of winemakers who have seamlessly blended tradition and innovation in their passionate dedication to viticulture.
The story of Bosco Sant’Agnese began with Angela’s father’s love for agriculture and wine. Over the years, this passion evolved into a full-fledged winery, officially active for about ten years. Before this, winemaking was a family tradition, carried out for personal and local consumption.
We live together in our countryside home, surrounded by family vineyards. Our two children, now in their thirties, have chosen different paths from agriculture. Nonetheless, we enthusiastically manage our 5 hectares of vineyards, with three being family-owned and the rest acquired over time.
The philosophy of Bosco Sant’Agnese is rooted in respect for nature and sustainability. We have chosen to follow the principles of biodynamics, a method that views the farm as a living organism, in harmony with its surroundings. Although we initially sought biodynamic certification, we later decided to part ways with certification bodies due to differing visions. Currently, our wines are certified organic, reflecting our commitment to natural and sustainable viticulture.
At Bosco Sant’Agnese, we cultivate a variety of grapes, including Coda di Volpe, Piedirosso, Aglianico, Barbera, and Greco. These local varieties were selected for their unique characteristics and their ability to thrive in the Sannio terroir. Antonio has a particular fondness for Piedirosso, which he considers a wine with delicate and captivating sensory qualities.
A unique aspect of our vineyard management is the use of music to stimulate plant growth. A fan of progressive rock, Antonio has experimented with the effects of music on the vines, finding it an effective way to enhance both the well-being of the plants and his own.
The wines of Bosco Sant’Agnese reflect the authentic and genuine character of our family. Among our most beloved labels are Piedirosso Federiciano, Barbera Coppacorte, Aglianico Corneliano, Covante di Coda di Volpe, and Appiano, a sparkling rosé made from Sciascinoso. Each wine embodies the land and the passion with which it is produced, encapsulating our philosophy of respect for nature and tradition.
We invite you to explore our selection of wines, to savour the authentic taste of a land rich in history and traditions. Join us on a journey through the authentic flavours of Sannio, to discover the heart and soul of Cantina Bosco Sant’Agnese.
