Antonio Covuccia Winery: A Family Tradition of Dedication and Passion for Aglianico

Our winery was born from a profound bond with the land and a love for winemaking, passed down from generation to generation. Located in Contrada Carazita, one of the most prized areas of Taurasi, the Antonio Covuccia Winery continues an agricultural tradition cultivated with dedication and sacrifice by my father and grandfather.

After my father passed away in 2014, I decided, together with my brother, to continue along this path and honour his work, keeping alive the project he built with such dedication. For us, winemaking is not just a profession; it is an inheritance of values and passion that ties us to both the land and our family. Establishing a winery was a dream I achieved in 2021, when we vinified our Aglianico grapes for the first time, creating two wines: Irpinia Aglianico “1944,” dedicated to my mother, and Irpinia Campi Taurasini “1931,” in memory of my father.

In our vineyard, we follow traditional and environmentally respectful practices. Spanning 0.75 hectares on the hills of Contrada Carazita, our vineyards benefit from a unique terroir with optimal exposure and a soil that enriches the grapes with character and complexity. Every step is done by hand, from cordon pruning to harvest, with careful selection of the best bunches. We believe that care and attention to traditional practices are essential to producing wines that embody the unique qualities of the territory.

In the winery, each step is carefully designed to preserve the authenticity and quality of the grapes. Ageing takes place in stainless steel and chestnut barrels, a choice that allows the wines to develop fresh and spicy notes while maintaining a balanced structure and distinctive character. Production is deliberately limited to 4,500 bottles, ensuring high quality and bringing out the full potential of Aglianico.

Our family’s passion and hard work give life to two unique wines: Irpinia Aglianico DOC “1944” and Irpinia Campi Taurasini DOC “1931,” which embody our connection to the land and respect for our roots. These wines represent our vision of winemaking as an expression of tradition, passion, and authenticity, offering an experience that highlights both Irpinia and the Aglianico grape.
